Classes
Have a look at the classes we offer below along with the class descriptions. We have recreational and competitive classes upon a range of specialties. There are classes for ages 2 up to adult.
Little Tots Dancers -
Preschool Age 2-4
A playful introduction to basic movement. We use popular nursery rhymes, stories and music to guide our lessons. With the use of props and scene setting we help make movement fun and allow children to explore joyous movement while keeping them engaged and stimulated. The class is 30 mins and is designed to allow them enough time to explore independence from their parents, while not being too daunting.
Tiny Dancers -
Reception Students
Focuses on introductions into creative movement. We encourage these students to explore how their body moves. We encourage them to take up space and let their creativity through dance develop freely. They learn basic introductory movements that will later progress into more developed dance styles. They explore artistry through making shapes and understanding body parts aided by props and extra resources to keep children stimulated and engaged.
Mini Dancers - Year One Students
Our mini dancers work on further developing their understanding of movement. They learn a wider range of skills and steps that build the foundation for understanding Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance styles. We explore musicality and working to beats of music, and choreographic counts. Students in this class work on retaining choreography week on week that they will have the chance to perform throughout the year.
Petite Dancers - Year Two
In this class students continue to learn their dance foundations. We look at musicality and tempo work through a variety of Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance styles. We teach routines and combinations to help improve their choreographic recall. We look at teaching more challenging steps while building dance strength and building on a dancer’s flexibility.
Youth Dancers - Year 2 & 3 (invite only)
We focus on progressing our knowledge of dance steps and increasing our technique. We look at combinations in Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary styles. We start to explore how we use our bodies, posture and faces to perform and convey different emotions in different dance styles. We expand our practice by beginning to develop our leaps and turns, including understanding pirouettes. We further explore timing and the importance of being able to dance in a group setting. Students learn routines for performances throughout the year.
Junior Dancers - Year 4-7
We continue a dancers training, further developing performance, technique and move onto more advanced skills. We look at developing kicks, leaps and turns all vital skills used for advanced combinations of Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance styles. We work on group routines teaching spatial awareness, working as together and allow students to become good team players. Students work towards our Spring annual showcase and other local performances too.
Pearl Cheerleading - Age 5-6
Our youngest cheerleaders get to explore the four aspects of cheerleading in this class: stunts, tumbles, jumps and dance. We work on introducing stunts and tumbles at a basic level. This class encourages progression through teamwork, where students work together with their classmates. There are regular performance opportunities within the local area each year.
Topaz Cheerleading - Age 6-8
In Topaz we continue to build on cheerleading skills, covering all aspects of the sport. These are stunts, tumbles, jumps and dance. We begin to teach stunts at a higher level. With the support of our coaching staff children can learn all elements of stunting which can include basing and flying. We teach the importance of teamwork and working towards a common goal when putting cheerleading routines.
Sapphire Cheerleading - Born 2012-2016
Sapphire is our Level 1 Under 12 Team. In this team there are both local performance opportunities and competitions to attend throughout the season. There is no experience needed for this team as we will help students learn the skills required. We focus on building strength and confidence within this team along with working together towards a common goal. They perform once annually withing the Southwest.
Amethyst Cheerleading - Born 2010-2015
This is our Level 1 Under 14 Cheerleading Team. They have performance opportunities throughout the season along with competing nationally twice within the season. We have fielded this team for the more experienced and advanced cheerleaders and work with them to help polish their Level 1 tumbling and stunting skills.
Diamond Cheerleading - Born 2008 - 2013
This is our Under 16 Level 2 Cheerleading Team. Diamonds perform locally along with competing in 2-3 national competitions each season. We continue to develop cheerleading skills along with strength and flexibility to become well rounded athletes of the sport. We continue to focus on working as a team and supporting each other as we develop our skills.
Emeralds Cheerleading - Born 2009 or Earlier
Our Open Level 2 Non Tumble Team. This is a competitive cheerleading team who compete nationally twice each season. This team offers a more mature environment with athletes born 2009 or earlier. There is no experience needed to be involved, just a commitment to the team and their weekly training session.
Hip Hop - Age 7+
Our Hip Hop class teaches students new terminology and movements within the style. Lots of our students enjoy a more relaxed style of dancing, where they can be freer with their movements and can explore all the positions and shapes, they can create within their body. The students use newly taught moves within their combinations and routines so that they can apply the new steps they are learning directly.
Boys Street Dance - Age 6-11
A freestyle & street dance class just for boys. It includes fitness, strength work, improvisation and encourages teamwork. Working on strong routines to current music. For boys who love dance but don’t necessarily want to be in a class with just girls. They will get to work on tricks too!
Tiny Tumblers - Age 3-6
Tiny Tumblers offers a safe place for young children to explore gymnastic movements. We will work on teaching body positions required within acrobatics and gymnastic and begin to teach introductory movements such as handstands, bridges and forwards rolls. All done in a safe environment with the goal being exploration of what the body can do along with building confidence.
Tumbles and Tricks - Age 6+ Mixed Age and Ability
Focuses on flexibility, gymnastic skills and strength. In this class we explore a range of floor based gymnastic movements from Forward Rolls to Walkovers. There is a large section of conditioning and strength training along with flexibility work in these sessions too. We train the drills before the skills; breaking down each section of movement so that are students can execute these movement safely and with confidence. We work on sequences as well as individual skills that can be added into our dance and cheerleading routines.
Intermediate Acro - Ability Based
We look at improving standing skills and flexibility through this class. Key skills we work on are front and back walkovers, along with aerials and then progressing onto front and back handsprings using the assistance of our experienced coaching team. We also look at more acrobatic and artistic gymnastic based movements including partner lifts and counterbalances.
Advanced Acro - Ability Based
Advanced Acro is focused on running tumbles and tumble sequences. We look at linking powerful movements effectively. Again, in this class we condition the steps and shapes required for more elite tumbles. In this class students have gymnastic mats and air tracks to practice their skills and gain confidence. This class is perfect alongside a cheerleading class and is specifically aimed at advanced individuals who want to improve their power tumbling skills.
Youth Musical Theatre - Year 1-3
This class is great for students looking to help improve their overall confidence and public speaking. We look at group devised pieces where everyone gets a part. Story telling is something we look at heavily to get students using their creativity and allow them to perform for their peers in a fun way that helps them speak out loud in front of an audience. We look at creating characters and explore how we can use facial expressions to show emotion and performance.
Junior Musical Theatre - Year 4-7
Our Junior Musical Theatre class helps us create well rounded performers. We develop our acting skills through script work, mime and creating scenes. This class is fantastic for confidence building. There are no wrong answers in musical theatre. We create a safe space where a child’s imagination can really run free as we encourage them to think outside the box and embrace their creativity.
Senior Musical Theatre - Year 7-13
We develop our acting skills through script work, mime and creating scenes. We will be creating our own plays and productions throughout the year, casting our students in lead roles. They will also explore what is involved in putting on productions including stage crew and set design too.
Singing Group - Year 1 and Up
Our students also come together to sign to track and live musicians, learning popular songs from shows and musicals. We look at acting through song and focus on different pieces that show a variety of emotions. We help students explore their vocal range and fine tune their singing technique.
Gold Competitive Dance
Attend one competition each season. This will be in the southwest area where possible. This will be spring/summer 2025. Alongside this they will perform in our annual showcase and have other performance opportunities within the local community. Great for newer dancers to introduce them into competitive dance and for those with financial or commitment restrictions.
Platinum Competitive Dance
Will attend 2-3 competitions each season, mainly during the Spring and Summer. There may also be an option of attending a convention too. Platinum dancers may be required to travel further to competitions, but we will keep them based as near as we possibly can. This option is recommended for the more experienced dancer.
